Jared’s Bio:
Jared is an individual that has a passion for learning. He believes in changing the world by changing how people learn and how people think.
While working towards his doctorate in chemistry at the University of California, Jared developed a love of teaching science to others. After graduation he returned to the Vancouver area where he taught chemistry and biology at the University of the Fraser Valley. At the beginning of 2008 he joined the Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative, which focuses on researching improved methods of teaching science to university students. Under the guidance of Carl Wieman (winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, 2001) Jared has developed new ways of teaching science students practical thinking skills that will benefit them in their careers beyond university.
Jared also sits on the advisory board of a new company, Diacarbon Energy Inc., where he acts as a research advisor. Diacarbon Energy is one of a handful of new companies exploring the use of pyrolysis as a means of producing eco-friendly energy products. Such “green-tech” companies are poised to make a huge positive impact on our planet’s pollution, energy, and climate change problems. This puts Jared in the exciting position of being able to help change the world in a completely different way.
